Title: MUN/Debate Coordinator

Team: MLT/HLT

Responsible To: MPHT HPHT

Job Function: To lead MUN and Debating at BSK.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. To lead, promote, and develop the BSK MUN and the BSK Debating Society.
  2. To organize an annual MUN conference in collaboration with the Head Teacher (Middle Phase) and Head Teacher (Higher Phase).
  3. To organize an annual inter-house debating competition with the Head Teacher (Middle Phase) and Head Teacher (Higher Phase).
  4. To organize BSK's involvement in regional MUN events, which may include Nord Anglia competitions and BSME events.
  5. To organize BSK's involvement in regional debating events, including Nord Anglia competitions, Gulf Debates, and the BSME Debating Tournament.
  6. To liaise with other foreign schools to participate in MUN competitions, both in Kuwait and internationally.
  7. To liaise with other foreign schools to develop inter-school debating competitions, both in Kuwait and elsewhere.
  8. To develop debating in a variety of languages, including English, Arabic, and other modern languages.
  9. To investigate the Nord Anglia link with UNICEF and the annual event held at the UN assembly in New York.
  10. To investigate and, if appropriate, facilitate BSK's involvement in other debating competitions such as the COBIS Student World Debate Competition and other affiliated events.
  11. To lead 'Team Kuwait' at the annual World Schools Debating Championship.
  12. To carry out other related duties as required by the Principal.

 

Safeguarding

Prospective candidates should submit the details of at least two previous employers as referees which must be their two most recent employers, covering a minimum of four years of employment, or all of their employment if the candidate has less than four years of experience.

If a candidate has only one previous employer, two references can be provided from the same employer.

For candidates in a school where the line manager is providing a reference, the reference must be countersigned by the Head Teacher or Principal.

All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced criminal background check and must provide a detailed residential history for the last ten (10) years.
